Alteration: Bride’s maid before and after
this dress was too tight for my client to zip it up.
at the fitting session, we discussed many solutions for the fix. and we chose to alter the style to make it to be backless. shorten the zipper and create a smooth design at the back.
the dress was changed to a better fit, sexier, simpler design.

Alteration: QiPao Before and After
here is what a dress looks like after 2 sizes smaller. it was bought as a gift to this beautiful client, she loved the dress. the style suits her, but it was too big. it is always a treat to me to make things happen to make a piece of garment fits.

Indigo Tie Dye in the Summer

it was a fun experience . with the nice weather continuing here in Vancouver, tie dye is the must do it right away kind of activity.
my kit arrived 20 days after order putting in. I think shipping to Canada just takes longer.
Jacquard Indigo Tie Dye Kit (Mini) 48.52 CAD + Tax
I dyed 3 times and with the weather being too hot I think the Vat gone bad eventually. I was able to test some of the natural fibre materials. like 100%pima cotton, is not cotton. it didn’t absorb any of the color.
next time I will be planning ahead a bit more more and buy some new fabric to try different pattern ideas.
this time all things are improvising, finding anything that is visible.
I am happy with all the result though. there are some not in the picture. the linen tank top and the linen dress are my favorite, the red raw silk fabric needs to be sewn in to a dress… I have my white cotton bad sheet dyed, also a crew neck sweater with little embroidered bears. the crew neck is not 100% cotton in content, still it caught some color and looks nice.
what I learned, first thing of all is that, I, for sure, need some fabric shopping!
next time, I should definitely do it with some friends. the waiting for the oxidize time can be used to do some yoga or tea drinking or even sewing !

Making a clay whistle

I spent 2 days to figure out how to make it work 🙂
definitely needs more high school education! I searched up in google, all the videos are for school aged children!
I am very happy about how it turned out. and will make more!
cat whistles and owl whistles are on the making list. red clay, coffee clay, blue ones and un-glazed ones….so many more to come. it is just about time.
all things in life, is about time!
